Abstract: A nano sensor-based device for detection of fungal elements (13) in a biological fluid comprises a Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) nanosensor (1), a testing chamber (2), a Raman reader (3), a controller (4), and a display (6). The SERS nanosensor (1) comprises an Anodised Aluminium Oxide (AAO) substrate (11) bearing metallic nanostructures, including electroless-deposited silver nanoparticles (12), configured to adsorb fungal elements (13) and generate an enhanced Raman signal therefrom. The testing chamber (2) houses the nanosensor (1) in a closed, light-excluding environment, while the Raman reader (3), comprising a laser source (8) and detector (9), generates Raman spectral data. The controller (4), comprising artificial intelligence software (5), pre-processes and compares said data against a reference library to identify the presence, amount, and species-specific type of fungal element (13) from among multiple fungal species, including Aspergillus, Candida, and Mucorales, directly from biological fluid, bypassing lengthy fungal culture preparation.
