Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multilayered foam core sandwich panel test piece (100) and the method of preparation of the same. The test piece (100) comprises of a plurality of outer thin plates (101) of a non-foaming Al- alloy, affixed in a split-type mold with controlled gaps to accommodate a foam core (102). The foam core (102) consist of a metal foam, comprising of a molten Al- alloy; a thickening agent, and a foaming agent. Additionally, the present disclosure outlines a quantitative evaluation method, incorporating analytical models to assess parameters such as flexural rigidity and shear rigidity. Further, a method for deflection testing is also described in the present disclosure.
