Inventors include Dr. Susmita Das; and Dr. Kajari Dutta.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a novel zero wastewater generating water filter with specially fabricated nanofiltration membrane capable of single step transformation of river water to potable water. The study presents a filtration assembly to purify river water to potable water in a single step with zero water wastage. The multifunctional nanofiltration membrane discards all chemical and microbial impurities in a single step thus converting river water to potable water. The membrane is capable of white light aided self-sterilization thus eliminating biofouling up to two cycles. The filter design incorporating the fabricated membrane performs the filtration process without wastewater generation. Hence, the invention presents a sustainable and economic technique for wastewater remediation that can be applied at both domestic and industrial scenarios in both rural and urban regions.
