MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621084682 A) filed by Space & Object Design Lab on July 10, 2026, for A Multi-Functional Floor-Mounted Gliding Swing Assembly Convertible To A Static Sofa With Reconfigurable Seating And Integrated Accident Prevention Barriers.
Inventor includes Gaurang Bhaskarbhai Rashiwala.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: A floor-mounted gliding swing restricted within 400mm-1200mm height has stationary vertical support panels (10) and outer cladding sleeves (26) optimized within a 300mm-1000mm width and 400mm-1200mm height matrix, rigidly fixed by two horizontal members (24). The swing is driven through four-bar linkages featuring J-shaped pivoting links (12) on panels (10). A seating base hung on said links (12) is sized 500-2500mm wide and 400-1000mm deep for single or multi-person capacity. Structural members (10),(12),(14),(24), claddings (26), and seating bases adapt regular/irregular geometric forms made from wood, plastics, composites, polymers, or metal. Links (12) connect via exactly eight low-friction ball bearings, synchronized by horizontal member (14). Locking assembly (16) converts the swing into a static sofa. Reconfigurable backrest (18) alternates orientations for bi-directional seating, alongside safety handrests (20) and bottom leg supports (22) limited within 600mm-1200mm length and lined with industrial rubber tracks.
