MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125540 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on October 21, 2026, for A Multi-Energy Harvesting System To Energize Implantable Pacemaker Batteries.
Inventors include Dhanalakshmi R; Abhijay; and Anubrata Majumdar.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A multi-energy harvesting system 100 to energize a pacemaker 204 implanted in a patient 202 includes a plurality of energy harvesting modules 102 to harvest electrical energy form the body; an energy storage device 112; and a hybrid power management module 106 configured to manage electrical energies. The energy storage device 112 collects the energy continuously harvested from the plurality of harvesting modules 102 via hybrid power management module 106 and store to maintain power level for the pacemaker 204 thereby avoiding replacement of the energy storage device 112 at regular intervals, and a controller 114 draw uninterrupted energy from the hybrid power management module 106 and manage to predict cardiac state of the patient 202 and supply power through electrodes 206 to maintain intrinsic cardiac activity, pacing pulse to cardiac tissues and restore rhythm of the heart 208 to save the patient.
