Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-agent Internet of Things (IoT) diagnostic and predictive maintenance system employing digital twin swarms and learned cognitive device states for adaptive monitoring of physical assets. A plurality of micro digital twins simultaneously evaluates alternative operational and degradation hypotheses, while a consensus engine combines their outputs using weighted, uncertainty-aware voting. A learned cognitive device state framework maintains experiential information representing cumulative fatigue, stress patterns, recovery behaviour, and long-term degradation. Autonomous diagnostic agents employ reinforcement learning to continuously adapt fault-inference logic and identify novel failure conditions. A Predictive Failure Emergence Index (PFEI) determines proximity to emerging failures using behavioural divergence, entropy variation, and inter-twin disagreement. The system further provides dynamic hierarchical agent delegation, privacy-preserving federated learning without raw sensor-data exchange, context-aware diagnostic weighting, synthetic failure simulation, and autonomous maintenance strategy generation for robust and proactive predictive maintenance.
