Abstract: A MONOLITHIC OPTICAL LIGHT GUIDE FOR AMPLIFICATION OF AN AFM SIGNAL The invention provides a monolithic optical light guide (100) for amplification of an AFM signal. The monolithic optical light guide (100) includes a planar surface (1) having a first end (1a) and a second end (1b) and a non-planar surface (2) having a plurality of inclinations (2a), each inclination (2a) having a preformed angle, wherein the preformed angle enables internal reflection of an input signal. The optical light guide further includes an inlet (3) provided proximal to the first end (1a) of the planar surface (1) for allowing a signal to enter and an outlet (4) provided proximal to the second end (1b) of the planar surface (1) for allowing the amplified signal to be detected.
