MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641070542 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on June 05, 2026, for A Modular Holder Assembly And A Method For Dosimetric Evaluation Of Intracavitary Brachytherapy Applicators.
Inventors include Challapalli Srinivas; Athiyamaan M S; Sourjya Banerjee; and Jeyasingam Jeyasugiththan.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: A modular holder assembly (100) for positioning a ring-and-tandem intracavitary brachytherapy applicator and one or more dosimetry detectors is disclosed. The modular holder assembly (100) comprises an acrylic base plate (101) having a positioning groove configured to receive the ring-and-tandem intracavitary brachytherapy applicator, a rectal detector adaptor holder (103) configured to receive a rectal detector probe at a fixed distance from the positioning groove, and a bladder detector adaptor holder (105) configured to receive a bladder detector probe at a fixed distance from the positioning groove. An air-gap simulation block (107) selected from block-1 (107A), block-2 (107B), and block-3 (107C) is interchangeably inserted between the applicator and the rectal detector adaptor holder (103) to create a controlled applicator-to-detector separation. A screw-and-bolt assembly (109) tightened across the acrylic base plate (101) clamps and immobilizes all components in a fixed geometry. (FIG.1A)
