Abstract: The present invention discloses a mini abrasive belt grinding machine featuring a novel Integrally- Formed Wooden Monocoque Support Structure for precision surface finishing. Conventional belt grinders employ welded steel or extruded aluminium frames that, despite high rigidity, inherently transmit harmonic motor and belt-pulley vibrations to the workpiece, causing undesirable chatter marks. This necessitates expensive, complex auxiliary damping subsystems, making such machines economically impractical for small-scale workshops, educational laboratories, and hobbyist applications. The core novelty lies in replacing discrete metal assemblies with a single, jointless chassis fabricated entirely from planar wood material. This is not a mere material substitution but an inventive functional choice: the wood's natural viscoelastic properties provide intrinsic vibration dampening, absorbing high-frequency oscillations generated at speeds up to 10,000 RPM directly at the structural source. This eliminates the need for secondary damping mechanisms while simultaneously reducing component count, assembly complexity, and alignment procedures. The invention addresses the pressing need for an economical, portable, yet high-precision finishing system. By utilizing low-cost, readily available wood as the primary structural element and eliminating custom metalwork, the total fabrication cost is substantially reduced to approximately Z4,000. The electrically insulating nature of the wood further enhances operator safety, while the open-frame monocoque design promotes passive convective cooling of the motor. The resulting machine delivers superior surface finish quality, exceptional manufacturability, and unprecedented accessibility for resource-constrained environments where conventional industrial grinders remain cost-prohibitive.
