MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641097719 A) filed by Aditya University on August 12, 2026, for A Microelectromechanical-System Piezoresistive Biosensor System For Multiplex Infectious-Disease Biomarker Detection.
Inventor includes Dr. Miranji Katta.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a microelectromechanical-system (MEMS) piezoresistive biosensor system (100) having an aster-shaped sensing architecture for multiplex detection of disease-associated biomarkers. The system (100) comprises a silicon substrate (102), a central fixed anchor region (104), and a plurality of microcantilever arms (106) extending radially from the central fixed anchor region (104). Each microcantilever arm (106) comprises an integrated piezoresistive layer (112) and a biochemical sensing interface (108) having an antibody (108A) specific to a corresponding disease-associated biomarker and a catalytic agent (108B) configured to enhance antigen–antibody interaction kinetics. Biomarker binding generates surface stress that is transduced into an arm-specific change in electrical resistance. Electrical readout circuitry (110) independently acquires the resistance changes from the microcantilever arms (106), thereby enabling parallel, real-time, and label-free detection and differentiation of multiple disease-associated biomarkers through a portable electronic readout system.
