Abstract: The present invention relates to a microcontroller-based intercrop planter (100), to enhance intercropping efficiency in dryland agriculture. The planter (100) mainly comprises a main frame (10) that supports a plurality of furrow opener assembly (20), a plurality of seeding units (30), a fertilizer application unit (40), and a ground wheel assembly (50), to facilitate intercropping of multiple crops while ensuring precise seed placement and fertilizer application. Further, each seeding unit (30) comprises a seed metering mechanism (34) driven by stepper motors (35) and vertical rollers (36) to meter seeds. The planter (100) includes a control unit (60) to control the operation of stepper motors (35) along with the selection of seed compartments and desired seed-to-seed spacing for respective seeding units (30) through a user interface (70) connected wirelessly to the control unit (60). Further, said planter (100) facilitates both intercropping and sole-crop planting, providing users with enhanced flexibility.
