Abstract: ABSTRACT A method 100 to detect a back leak of a first fuel injector of several fuel injectors without physically measuring a quantity of pressurized fuel that back leaks from the first fuel injector is described. The method 100 comprises determining 110 a pressure drop of fuel across the first fuel injector by iteratively cutting off supply of fuel for each fuel injector of the several fuel injectors excluding the first fuel injector, determining 120 a pressure drop of fuel across a second fuel injector by iteratively cutting off a supply of fuel for each fuel injector of the several fuel injectors excluding the second fuel injector, and inferring 130 that a back leak of fuel across the first fuel injector is the greatest if a difference between a pressure drop of fuel across the first fuel injector is greater than a pressure drop of fuel across the second fuel injector.
