Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD TO DESIGN AN ULTRA-LIGHT WEIGHT MONOLITHIC, WIDEBAND, HIGH PATTERN INTEGRITY ANTENNA An ultra-light weight, monolithic, wideband, high pattern integrity antenna is disclosed. The antenna comprises a grid-based cavity base plate that enhances boresight gain while minimizing weight, supported by corner pillars that elevate a radiating plate without perturbing the far-field pattern. The radiating plate carries a coplanar waveguide feed line exciting a pair of elliptical slots, and a connector interface region with designated holes enabling solder-less, clip-on connection to a standard RF connector. The structure is a single monolithic metallic part, preferably AlSi10Mg, made by metal additive manufacturing, with wall thickness maintained at about 1.5 mm. The antenna achieves a -10 dB impedance bandwidth from 1.87 to 4.14 GHz (75.5% fractional bandwidth), beamwidth of 64 to 74 degrees in both principal planes, peak boresight gain of about 7.5 dBi, 1-dB gain bandwidth of 68.15%, front-to-back ratio exceeding 8 dB, and radiation efficiency above 90%, suited to base stations and radar.
