Abstract: A method of synthesising cellulose pulp from cow dung is disclosed. The disclosed method comprises following steps: centrifuging cow dung, to obtain a fibre rich biomass; washing with hot water; treating with sodium hydroxide, sodium sulphite, and anthraquinone, to obtain a precipitate; and bleaching with a three-stage bleaching process, to obtain the cellulose pulp. The disclosed method offers at least the following advantages: does not require expensive raw materials; does not involve energy-intensive processes; offers high quality cellulose pulp and yield; offers improved pulp brightness; offers excellent mechanical properties; facilitates conversion of cow dung, into value added products; and/or facilitates transitioning, towards a circular economy.
