MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641060180 A) filed by K Ramakrishnan College Of Engineering on May 12, 2026, for A Method Of Preparation Of Solvent Based Adhesive From Recycled Eps.
Inventors include M. Mohammed Sulthan; S. Mohammed Dhansheer; . M. Thirukumaran; and Dr. A. Oorkalan.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a solvent-based adhesive system formulated by dissolving expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste in petrol and reinforcing the resulting polymer matrix with calcium carbonate (CaCOs) fillers. The adhesive addresses critical limitations in conventional cementitious and polymer adhesives, including slow curing, poor crack resistance, and limited bonding reliability on porous substrates. By utilizing petrol as a solvent, EPS is rapidly dissolved into a viscous polymer solution, which upon curing forms a tough, flexible film. The incorporation of CaCOs fillers enhances compressive strength, stabilizes viscosity, and improves durability under mechanical and thermal stress.dFragment--
