MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079083 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Science Education And Research Iiser Tirupati on June 26, 2026, for A Method Of Preparation Of Polyanion-Type Sodium Transition Metal Phosphate Positive Electrode.
Inventors include Vanchiappan Aravindan; and Jyothilakshmi Shaji.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of positive electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIB), specifically discloses a method of preparation of a polyanion-type sodium transition metal phosphate positive electrode. The polyanion-type material has an orthorhombic olivine structure, and the positive electrode has the chemical formula NaFePO4 (NFP). In addition, the present invention discloses a preparation method for the cathode material and its application in a full-cell configuration with commercial graphite as the negative electrode via a solvent-co-intercalation process. The material disclosed in the present invention exhibits good ion diffusion, thermal stability, rate performance, and long-cycle stability. The sodium full-cell configuration of the invention offers a simple preparation method, high repeatability, low cost, and strong commercial prospects.
