Abstract: Present disclosure relates to a method for operating a hydraulic system (500) in a vehicle. The method includes receiving, by a control unit (50), a first information from a first sensor (5) of a steering system (100). Further, the control unit (50) is configured to compare the first information with a pre-stored data. Upon comparing, the control unit (50), determines an operating condition of a first pump (12) in the steering system (100). Further, the control unit (50) operates a first valve (2) associated with an accumulator (30) of a braking system (200) and a second valve (1) fluidly connected to a steering gear box (14) of the steering system (100), to channelize pressurized fluid from the accumulator (30) to the steering gear box (14) for operating the steering system (100). The method ensures functioning of the steering system (100) even when the first pump (12) fails. Figure 2 is a representative figure.
