MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621054225 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay on April 28, 2026, for A Method Of Fabricating Polyethylene Glycol (peg)-Tagged Mesoporous Anisotropic Gold Nanorods.

Inventors include Sunita Srivastava; and Divya Jindal.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: According to the present disclosure, a simple, and a scalable method for fabricating polyethylene glycol (PEG)-tagged mesoporous anisotropic gold nanorods is disclosed. These nanorods enables controlled pore/nanograin formation with L-cysteamine and PEG functionalization resulting in gold nanorods that with enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance, excellent colloidal stability, and biocompatibility. The porous structure increases active surface area and provides the capability to load therapeutic or diagnostic agents, while PEGylation ensures reduced aggregation and biocompatibility. The fabricated polyethylene glycol (PEG)-tagged mesoporous anisotropic gold nanorods is industrially applicable in photothermal cancer therapy, targeted drug delivery, bioimaging, and diagnostics.
