Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD OF DETECTION OF GRAM-POSITIVE BACTERIA The present invention relates to a method for differentiating Gram-positive from Gramnegative bacteria using an aldehyde detection reagent. The method targets teichoic acid, a structural component unique to Gram-positive bacterial walls, to induce a colorimetric reaction. This invention eliminates the need for microscopy, uses fewer reagents, and significantly reduces operator and interpretation errors.
