MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647113127 A) filed by Cummins Inc. on September 21, 2026, for A Method Of Controlling An Engine Oil Cooler, An Engine Oil Cooler, And An Engine System.
Inventors include Wang, Youwei; and Liu, Chang C..
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: A method of controlling an engine oil cooler includes receiving a sensed oil temperature and a sensed coolant inlet temperature of an engine system. The engine system includes an engine oil cooler including a cooler core. The method also includes calculating a first value being a difference between the sensed oil temperature and a target oil temperature and calculating a second value being a difference between the sensed oil temperature and the sensed coolant inlet temperature. The method includes determining a feedforward output based on the first value and second value and determining a first position of a solenoid valve. The method also includes positioning the solenoid valve in the first position. The method also includes moving a plunger of the engine oil cooler from a first position to a second position such that at least a portion of oil flow bypasses the cooler core.
