The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel method for ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) of antimicrobial compounds from Tinospora cordifolia leaves. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis confirms the presence of key antimicrobial compounds, including hexadecanoic acid methyl ester and trans-13- octadecenoic acid methyl ester. The extract demonstrates significant antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant pathogens, such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes, as verified by zone of inhibition assays. This eco-friendly and scalable method reduces solvent consumption and extraction time while preserving the bioactivity of compounds. The invention provides an efficient, sustainable solution for developing plant-derived antimicrobial agents with potential applications in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and natural therapeutics.
