Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING AND CHARACTERIZING ANTIOXIDANT SCHIFF BASE DERIVATIVES Disclosed herein a method for synthesizing and characterizing Schiff base derivatives (100), the method comprises reacting p-amino phenol with a respective aldehyde in the presence of glacial acetic acid via condensation reaction to obtain Schiff base derivatives. The method further, comprises characterizing the synthesized Schiff base derivatives via ultraviolet- visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance and elemental analysis. Further, evaluating antioxidant activity of the synthesized Schiff base derivatives via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging method and determining hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) scavenging activity of the synthesized Schiff base derivatives.
