The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A method 100 for creating re-engineered surface for a metallic steel blank 250 or part on one side or dual side with pre-defined area coverage including steps of irradiating a pre-selected area 402 with a defined pattern of laser spots using a pulsed-mode processing strategy; softening the irradiated region 502 to a controlled depth, reducing strength and improving elongation; designing laser spot patterns with optimized spot and track overlap; controlling laser energy through parameters including power, pulse width, pulse frequency, and pulse design to control deformation; monitoring surface temperature during processing using a sensor 218; and enabling subsequent cold or hot press forming as per application requirements. The process is performed with a fiber-couple diode laser integrated to robotic work station 200 that increases elongation to a minimum of 35% compared to un-radiated area 504 resulting enhanced ductility and formability for different steel grades, dual-phase steels metallic steel blank, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys.
