Abstract: This invention discloses an efficient speckle noise reduction technique based on an orthogonal polynomials multiresolution framework simultaneously preserving and enhancing the original signal information for medical ultrasound image. It mainly addresses the suitability of the established orthogonal polynomials model with a multiresolution reordered structure by analysing the individual characteristics of transform coefficients for noise reduced ultrasound images. The present invention eliminates the dependency on external reference images by directly analysing each subband coefficient derived from the orthogonal polynomial-based multiresolution reordered structure in existing multiresolution schemes. The implementation process has three parts: (i) transformation of input signals using orthogonal polynomials and reordering them into a multiresolution structure, (ii) speckle noise identification and reduction, and (iii) retaining and/or strengthening of the original signal components. Unlike conventional methods that involve higher computational complexity due to reference-based evaluation and logarithmic transformation, the present invention achieves a balance between performance efficiency and reduced computational overhead.
