Abstract: The present invention provides a method for refining commercial magnesium to high-purity magnesium using vacuum distillation. The method involves placing commercial magnesium in a melting crucible within an evaporation chamber of a vacuum distillation apparatus and heating it to an evaporation temperature under controlled vacuum pressure to produce magnesium vapor. An inert gas is introduced into the evaporation chamber at a controlled flow rate to transport the magnesium vapor from the evaporation chamber to a condenser-crucible assembly through a connector assembly. The magnesium vapor is then condensed within the condenser- crucible assembly by maintaining a specified condensation temperature, resulting in high-purity magnesium in a collecting crucible. This process enables single-step refinement of magnesium, achieving purity levels of 99.96% to 99.97% with reduced iron and aluminium impurities. (FIG. 1)
