Abstract: A method is disclosed for real-time zonal segmentation and prediction of peak particle velocity (PPV) in opencast mines using vibration sensing and machine-learning techniques. The method includes deploying georeferenced vibration sensors, acquiring synchronized ground-motion data during blasting, extracting PPV and waveform features, and segmenting the blast region into geotechnical zones. A trained artificial neural network predicts PPV for each zone using blast design parameters, geological attributes, and streaming vibration inputs. The system generates real-time PPV maps, identifies zones exceeding safety limits, and issues alerts for blast control and compliance. The method enables accurate, adaptive, and zone-wise prediction of blast-induced ground vibration. FIG related to the abstract is FIG. 1.
