Abstract: ABSTRACT “A METHOD FOR OPERATING AN IRON-MAKING BLAST FURNACE USING FLUX COMPRISING A COMBINATION OF BRUCITE AND B2O3 SOURCE” The present disclosure provides a method for operating an iron-making blast furnace with slag having greater than 19 weight% of alumina, the method comprising charging raw material comprising (a) iron bearing material having less than 1.5 weight % of magnesium oxide (MgO) and (b) flux comprising a combination of brucite and a source of boron trioxide (B2O3), in the blast furnace. The method of the present disclosure enables reducing slag rate, reducing fuel rate, improving basicity of slag as well as increasing recovery of B2O3 in the slag as compared to other fluxing components known in the art.
