MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521024509 A) filed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited on March 19, 2025, for A Method For Obtaining Lighter Hydrocarbon Rich Stream With High Research Octane Number.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for obtaining lighter hydrocarbon (C4, C5) rich stream with high research octane number. In particular, the present invention provides a method for obtaining stream (17) comprising light naphtha overhead product from naphtha splitter column (4) rich in isopentane and butane with high research octane number as top/overhead product to be used as Motor Spirit blend component. The heavy naphtha (24) from the bottom of the naphtha splitter column (4) is sent to the isomerisation unit (25).
