MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611107721 A) filed by Shubhi Sharma; Mohneesh Joshi; and Atharva Ranjan Sharma on September 08, 2026, for A Method For Manufacturing Eco-Friendly Composite materials Using Plastic Waste And Coconut Residue.

Inventors include Shubhi Sharma; Mohneesh Joshi; and Atharva Ranjan Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an eco-friendly composite material is disclosed. The method comprises processing coconut residue in a coconut residue processing unit (102) to obtain dried and size-reduced coconut material and processing plastic waste in a plastic processing unit (104) to obtain a molten thermoplastic material. The processed materials are mixed in a mixing unit (106) with one or more functional additives to form a homogeneous composite mixture. The composite mixture is subjected to controlled thermal processing in a thermal processing unit (108), followed by molding in a molding unit (110) and cooling in a cooling unit (112) to obtain a solid composite structure. The composite structure is subsequently treated in a surface treatment unit (114) by applying one or more fire-resistant and hydrophobic coatings. The resulting composite material exhibits improved mechanical strength, reduced density, thermal insulation, fire resistance, and moisture resistance, while enabling sustainable utilization of plastic waste and coconut residue for manufacturing construction materials and other molded composite products.
