Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD FOR INCREASING ALKALOID YIELDS IN C. ROSEUS The present invention provides a method for increasing the yields of alkaloids, Vincristine and Vinblastine in Catharanthus roseus plants by treating the plants with an elicitor within pre-determined time periods. The elicitor is salicylic acid solution and the predetermined time period ranges from 24 to 72 hours. The combined approach of the optimum concentration of the elicitor and the predetermined time period result in improved yields of Vincristine and Vinblastine in C. roseus.
