MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621049517 A) filed by D. Y. Patil International University on April 17, 2026, for A Method For Fabricating Nanosheets For Supercapacitor Electrodes.

Inventor includes Dr. Vandana Sharad Patil.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD FOR FABRICATING NANOSHEETS FOR SUPERCAPACITOR ELECTRODES The present disclosure describes a method of fabricating an electrode for an electrochemical energy storage device. The method comprises preparing a solution comprising a carbon-containing precursor, subjecting the solution to a controlled thermal treatment to produce two-dimensional carbon nanosheets having a porous surface morphology, purifying the two-dimensional carbon nanosheets, decorating the nanosheet surface with at least one electroactive nanoparticle material comprising manganese oxide, titanium dioxide, or reduced graphene oxide by chemical deposition or in-situ growth to form a nanoparticle-decorated composite, thermally post-treating the nanoparticle-decorated composite to improve interfacial bonding and electrical conductivity, and coating the nanoparticle-decorated composite onto a conductive substrate. The electrode operates through a hybrid charge storage mechanism comprising electric double-layer capacitance and pseudocapacitance, delivering an areal capacitance of approximately 350 mF/cm² at 1 mA/cm² and a capacitance retention of 90% after 5000 charge-discharge cycles in a supercapacitor electrochemical energy storage device.
