Abstract: TITLE: A METHOD FOR FABRICATING A BIO-BASED FIBRE REINFORCED COMPOSITE ROD The present invention relates to a method for fabricating a composite rod using a bio-based interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) resin and hemp fibre yarn. Waste rice bran oil (WRBO) is epoxidized using formic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and seralite SRC-120 to obtain epoxidized rice bran oil (ERBO). The epoxidized rice bran oil (ERBO) is blended with epoxy resin and a curing agent, followed by addition of an accelerator, mechanical stirring, and degassing to form the resin. The hemp fibre yarn is processed with 5 wt% sodium hydroxide solution and coated with the bio-based interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) resin to form a resin-coated hemp fibre yarn. The resin-coated hemp fibre yarn is placed in a composite rod fabrication approach and thermally treated at 80 °C, 100 °C, and 120 °C for 2 hours at each temperature to form the composite rod. The epoxidized rice bran oil (ERBO) and epoxy resin are used in ratios of 0:100, 10:90, 20:80, and 30:70
