The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (100) for evaluating nutraceutical potentiality of Plumeria obtusa on liver cirrhosis and acute pancreatitis comprises collecting fresh leaves of Plumeria obtusa (102) from a natural source and authenticating the plant material (104) through a recognized taxonomic authority. The authenticated leaves are washed and shade-dried (106) for a predetermined period. The powdered leaves are subjected to solvent-based Soxhlet extraction (108). The obtained methanolic extract undergoes preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening (110) and acute oral toxicity testing (112) to establish a safe dosage range. The extract is administered orally at predetermined low and high doses (114) to experimental models. Liver injury is induced using paracetamol and acute pancreatitis using L- arginine (116), with effects compared to standard drugs (118). Biochemical markers are estimated (120), histopathological examination is performed (122), and data are analyzed (124) to determine nutraceutical, hepatoprotective, and pancreatoprotective potential.
