Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for preparing Empagliflozin-loaded sodium alginate nanoparticles by ion gelation crosslinking with barium chloride for improved antidiabetic drug delivery. Seven formulation variants F1 through F7 are prepared by systematic variation of sodium alginate concentration from 100 to 1000 mg with fixed Empagliflozin content of 100 mg and three percent barium chloride. FTIR analysis confirms excipient compatibility across all components. The optimized F3 formulation achieves a mean particle size of 12.3 nm compared to 156.0 nm for unformulated drug, and a zeta potential of minus 41.5 mV confirming good colloidal stability. In-vitro drug release evaluation demonstrates F3 achieving maximum cumulative release of 71.18 percent at twelve hours following Higuchi diffusion-controlled kinetics with correlation coefficient of 0.9786. Korsmeyer-Peppas analysis confirms anomalous transport mechanism. The method provides enhanced particle size reduction, improved colloidal stability, sustained drug release, and optimized formulation performance for Empagliflozin oral therapeutic applications.
