MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621055389 A) filed by Bhushilp Mines And Minerals Private Limited on April 30, 2026, for A Method For Drilling A Borehole In Banded Hematite Quartzite Formations And Recovering Core Samples.
Inventors include Joshi, Shekhar Manoharrao; and Gajbhiye, Anil Uderam.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method (500) for drilling a borehole in Banded Hematite Quartzite formations and recovering a desired % of core samples. The method (500) is used for drilling boreholes within the Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) formations in order to explore and extract minerals, with a desired % of recoverable core samples, in iron ore deposits. The method (500) includes conducting a geological and geophysical assessment, integrating historical data, creating three-dimensional geological model of subsurface formations to determine a drilling location and initiate drilling. The drilling is carried out using diamond core drilling assembly (120) with circulation of a drilling fluid. Drilling parameters are monitored and adjusted based on borehole conditions. The core samples recovered undergo core recovery processing sequence for mineral analysis and scanning of core samples and updates the three-dimensional geological model and adjust drilling parameters for maximum % of core recovery and borehole stability.
