MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611091608 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Roorkee on July 28, 2026, for A Method For Determining Intensity-Duration Rainfall Threshold For Slope Failure Prediction.
Inventors include Rahul, Sushant; and Tyagi, Akanksha.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for determining an intensity-duration rainfall threshold to identify rainfall-induced failure events of a slope in a target region. The method includes obtaining input parameters and corresponding parameter ranges for the target region. The method includes performing a multiphysics analysis based on the input parameters and parameter ranges to generate a synthetic inventory comprising failure event datasets, each indicating slope failure time and corresponding rainfall intensity-duration values across simulation cases performed for the input parameters. The method includes plotting a rainfall intensity vs rainfall duration representation for the slope based on the synthetic inventory. The method includes determining a threshold curve based on the representation for predicting rainfall-induced failure events associated with the slope in the target region.
