The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (100) for design and fabrication of phytosomes loaded targeted transdermal patches to combat type 2 diabetes involves a systematic workflow beginning with an in silico molecular docking study (102) to screen antidiabetic phytoconstituents, leading to the selection of baicalin (104) as the most promising ligand. Pre-formulation studies (106) are then carried out. Baicalin-loaded phytosomes are formulated (108) through solvent evaporation and thin-film hydration, followed by optimization (110) based on particle size, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, and morphology. The optimized phytosomes are incorporated into polymeric transdermal patches via solvent casting (112) and characterized (114) for physical and mechanical properties. In vitro drug release is evaluated using a Franz diffusion cell (116), while in vivo studies (118) in STZ-induced diabetic models assess safety and antidiabetic efficacy. The generated data are analyzed (120) to confirm sustained release, targeted delivery, and therapeutic effectiveness.
