MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611087674 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology Pharmacy Institute on July 17, 2026, for A Method For Design And Development Of A Transparent Drug-Conjugate-Loaded Ocular Film For Glaucoma Therapy.

Inventors include Dr Rupa Mazumder; Dr Anjna Rani; Ms; Dr Rakhi Mishra; Ms Pakhi Chakraborty; and Ms Sonia Chauhan.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (100) for design and development of a transparent drug-conjugate-loaded ocular film for glaucoma therapy comprises performing a literature survey (102). Anti-glaucoma bioactive flavonoids with pharmaceutically acceptable polymers and excipients, are selected (104). Pre-formulation tests (106) are conducted to evaluate organoleptic properties, solubility, melting point, pH, FTIR spectra, UV absorption maxima, and drug–excipient compatibility. Simulated tear fluid is prepared and calibration curves are established (108). Aqueous solubility of the bioactives is enhanced (110). Polymeric solutions are prepared (112) using suitable solvents, permeation enhancers, and plasticizers, followed by incorporation of drug complexes (114). The formulation is optimized using a central composite design (116). The optimized solution is cast and dried (118) to form a transparent ocular film, which is evaluated (120) for physicochemical and mechanical properties, subjected to in vitro drug release testing (122), and further assessed by ex vivo corneal permeation studies (124).
