MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531031294 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 30, 2025, for A Method For Corrosion Testing Of Metallic Wire Material For Electrostatic Precipitator (esp) Application.
Inventors include M. Mahesh Kumar; Antony Harison M. C; A. H. V Pavan; and Dhirendra Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for evaluating the corrosion resistance of wire materials under simulated ESP conditions. The method involves exposing multiple samples (8, 9) and/or wire materials to controlled flue gas environment at elevated temperatures for an extended period. Samples with or without ash coating is placed in the ceramic boat (7) adjacent to each other to simulate the effect of ash deposition. The weight loss of the wire samples before and after exposure is measured to determine the material's corrosion resistance. The process is designed to test the corrosion resistance of ESP wire materials while ensuring an efficient and reproducible evaluation. The method allows for simultaneous testing of multiple materials in a tubular furnace (1) chamber with precisely controlled temperature and flue gas flow. By incorporating both coated and uncoated wire samples (8, 9), the method effectively simulates the impact of coal ash deposits on corrosion resistance. FIGURE: 1
