Abstract: Disclosed herein is method and system for controlling power consumption of the ECU. The method comprises determining total power consumed by the ECU during an operational cycle of the ECU and determining that the total power consumed by the ECU is greater than or equal to a first pre-defined threshold. If the total power consumed by the ECU is greater than or equal to the first pre-defined threshold, the method comprises comparing the total power consumed by the ECU with a second pre-defined threshold and controlling the power consumption of the ECU , based on the comparing, by setting a first power limitation mode for the ECU when the total power consumed by the ECU is less than the second pre-defined threshold. If the total power consumed by the ECU is greater than or equal to the second pre-defined threshold the method comprises setting a second power limitation mode for the ECU.
