MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611087081 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on July 16, 2026, for A Method For Controlled Production, Extraction, And Characterization Of Diverse Microbial Pigments From Endophytic Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Under Variable Culture Conditions.

Inventors include Mansi Chauhan; and Anita Pandey.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to microbiology and bioprocess technology, and discloses a method for controlled production, extraction, and characterization of condition- responsive microbial pigments from endophytic Pseudomonas aeruginosa GEU-DBB5, deposited as MCC5522, isolated from Diploknema butyracea root tissues. The method of claim 1 comprises cultivating the isolate in tryptone yeast extract medium under selected temperature, pH, carbon source, nitrogen source, and incubation duration to obtain differential pigment phenotypes, including light green at about 15 degrees Celsius, dark green at about 37 degrees Celsius, reddish-brown upon prolonged incubation, and pigment suppression under non-permissive conditions. A crude pigment fraction is recovered by 70 percent aqueous ethanol extraction, centrifugation, repeated extraction, and filtration, and is characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thin layer chromatography, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The resulting composition comprises phenazine-related compounds, diketopiperazines, heterocyclic compounds, and organic acids.
