Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for assessing the mechanical performance of pharmaceutical tablets under simulated gastrointestinal peristaltic conditions. A tablet (103) is positioned within a peristaltic flow system and subjected to cyclic compression and shear forces generated by a programmable peristaltic pump (101), microfluidic channel, or mechanical compression device. Mechanical responses, including compressive strength, shear resistance, deformation, fragmentation, breakdown time, and disintegration, are monitored using pressure sensors and optical imaging systems. Peristaltic operating parameters are varied to simulate different gastrointestinal motility patterns, with optional exposure to physiologically relevant fluid media. The recorded data are analyzed to quantify tablet integrity, fragmentation, and disintegration kinetics, compare different formulations, and develop predictive computational models of tablet behavior under physiological peristalsis. The invention provides a reproducible platform for quantitative evaluation and optimization of pharmaceutical formulations under simulated gastrointestinal conditions.
