The present disclosure also provides an adapted micro- organism which has improved bioconversion capability as compared to the wild type micro-organism. Also provided herein is a process for preparation of L- glufosinate, esters, or salts thereof by bioconversion of a precursor of L-glufosinate thereof in presence of said adapted micro-organism.
