Abstract: A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SECURE AUTONOMOUS AERIAL PAYLOAD DELIVERY USING MULTI-STAGE VISUAL VERIFICATION AND CONDITIONAL PAYLOAD RELEASE A system and method for verification-gated payload release in autonomous aerial vehicles ensures secure and precise deliveries. The invention utilizes a multi-stage visual verification process executed at descending altitude bands. An on-board processor and finite-state decision engine evaluate visual marker detections, compute stage-specific confidence values, and authenticate mission identifiers in real time. The decision engine also integrates dynamic flight safety parameters into its evaluation. Payload actuation is conditionally authorized only upon successful satisfaction of all visual, authentication, and safety criteria, transitioning the system to a dedicated release-authorized state. Integrated retry and abort logic manages verification failures or unsafe conditions. This architecture effectively mitigates risks associated with GPS drift, spoofing, and transient detections to prevent unintended payload deployment.
