MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641097720 A) filed by I. V. Subba Rao; and I. Raghuvamsi on August 12, 2026, for A Method And System For Producing Cristobalite From Natural Quartz Using A Multi-Zone Rotary Kiln.
Inventors include I. V. Subba Rao; and I. Raghuvamsi.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a method and system (200) for continuous flux-free phase transformation of natural quartz into high-purity cristobalite using controlled multi-zone thermal processing in a rotary kiln, followed by controlled cooling, without addition of chemical fluxes, mineralizers, catalysts, or phase-transformation promoters, for industrial applications, which include refractory materials, technical ceramics, investment casting, specialty silica products, catalyst supports, semiconductor packaging materials, battery ceramics, and high-temperature engineering materials. The method enables controlled phase transformation of natural quartz into cristobalite through controlled temperature distribution, controlled heating rate, residence time, continuous material movement, and controlled cooling. The method provides uniform heat transfer, consistent material movement, stable process control, and controlled thermal exposure throughout a production cycle to support consistent quartz-to-cristobalite phase transformation.
