Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR GENERATING TRUE RANDOM NUMBERS 5 10 15 The present disclosure relates to a method (800) and a system (700) for generating true random numbers using a nanofluidic device (300A). One or more molecules (303) are introduced (802) into an ionic solution within the nanofluidic device (300A) comprising one or more nanofluidic structures. A voltage bias is applied (804) using a voltage source (301) to enable ionic current flow through the nanofluidic device (300A). Translocation of the one or more molecules (303) through the nanofluidic structures produces stochastic variations in the ionic current One or more temporal characteristics of the variations are obtained (806), including occurrence, duration, and time intervals of translocation events, and processed to generate one or more true random numbers (808). The generated true random numbers may be used in cryptographic applications, secure communications, simulations, and encryption systems.
