Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for estimating motion parameters (TMP) of zigging target using bearing measurements. In one embodiment, the method comprising: obtaining (610), by a processor, at least one bearing measurement of a target and at least one course and speed measurement of an observer, as test inputs, initializing (620) position measurements of the observer and the target with respect to X and Y coordinates, determining (630) a change in X and Y coordinates of both the observer and the target as next measurements, calculating (640) true values of the positions of the observer and the target using previous values and displacement, estimating (650) the target motion parameter’s (TMP) of target by manoeuvring the observer, determining (660) a normalized squared innovation process (NSIP) of the target using estimated target motion parameter’s (TMP) of target, determining (670) whether the target has manoeuvred using the normalized squared innovation process (NSIP) of the target and if target has manoeuvred, increase magnitude of covariance matrix by fudge factor and continuing (680) to estimate the target motion parameter’s (TMP) of chosen target until convergence.
