Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATED STATIC ANALYSIS OF FILES FOR MALWARE DETECTION The present invention relates to cyber forensics. Known malware reputation services and utilities operate one file at a time, capture little file metadata, and depend on continuous connectivity, making forensic triage of large file sets slow and difficult to evidence. The invention provides a computer-implemented method and a system that, in a single batch operation, recursively enumerate the files of a selected directory; compute MD5 and SHA-256 hashes of each file; query a remote multi-engine malware reputation service by hash through an API and obtain an aggregated detection report; extract file-system metadata; assign a threat level; record the hashes, metadata and results in an integrity- protected local log preserving chain of custody independently of connectivity; and compile a consolidated report (CSV/JSON/PDF). The technical effect is reduced triage time and preserved evidentiary integrity.
