Abstract: Conventional printed circuit board (PCB) inspection systems often suffer from inaccurate defect detection, high image-storage requirements, and inefficient inspection-data management. The present disclosure provides an automated PCB inspection and image management system (100) configured to receive a PCB inspection image through an image acquisition unit (102) and preprocess the image using a preprocessing module (106). A CNN-based defect detection module (108) identifies and classifies PCB defects and generates a confidence parameter. The inspection image is further processed by a DWT compression module (114) to generate frequency-domain sub-bands, wherein an approximation sub-band is retained and one or more remaining sub-bands are compressed. An IDWT reconstruction module (116) reconstructs a compressed inspection image, and a quality evaluation module (118) determines image quality parameters. The generated inspection information is consolidated into an inspection record and stored in a storage unit (122). The disclosed framework improves defect detection, storage efficiency, image quality assessment, and manufacturing quality control.
