The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: Conventional medical image classification techniques are susceptible to inconsistent preprocessing, limited interpretability and unreliable classification of medical images. The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method and system for automated classification of medical images. The system comprises an image acquisition interface (202) configured to receive medical images, a preprocessing module (204) configured to verify and standardize the received medical images, and a convolutional neural network processing module (206) configured to extract hierarchical feature representations and classify the medical images into predefined image classes. An explainability module (218) generates visual explanation maps, while a workflow manager (606d) evaluates confidence scores to selectively identify images for secondary verification. Classification results are stored in a model repository (114) and presented through a visualization interface (112), enabling reliable, interpretable and automated medical image classification.
